Custom Based Internet Filtering Application
. The goal of this project is to create an easy-to-implement solution that a family can use to filter internet content, customized for individual needs. There are many solutions on the market today, but none of them provide granular control. Some offer solutions with preset filter categories that do a poor job of filtering offensive content. Others block too much or only have an "all or nothing" capability policy for each domain. We want to develop a solution using Squid that will provide total control on what is allowed and what is blocked, down to the file level, with individual settings on a per MAC address basis. Features to include: Block Keywords, block websites, ability to edit the database to add/remove/edit blocked features, if a web- page is blocked then I would like a custom message to be placed. The deliverable for this project would be a working solution, including installation and management documentation. Please also note that I do not want a limit on how many PC's can use the software, ideally I have 4 PC's at home all networked through one server, If I block the content and websites on my PC, the other PC's in the network will have websites and keywords blocked too, The way it will work, I download the software on my desktop, I block websites and keywords, all computers within the network have the websites blocked.
