Harmony in Sport - Funding presentation
HARMONY IN SPORT PROGRAM We are a Cricket sporting club that is considered the most diverse multicultural sporting club in Australia (definitely Victoria). For the last three years with the help of our Head Coach – Matthew Shawcross who is also the Vice principal of a local primary school that has 80% of its student base is of refugee and low socio-economic backgrounds. The program was first set up to incorporate these students into group sports as the teaching body recognised that with the use of sport they could expand the current school curriculum in how they taught the students. The general behaviour of students prior to this initiative was poor and the future was going to be difficult. The program “Harmony in Sport” was created by Matthew Shawcross and the Sunshine Heights Cricket Club. The goal was to make available the ability for students to participate in local sport namely Cricket. The main issue relating to low income families is the general cost of setting up a child to play any sport this includes travel, which is difficult when transportation is not available or the parents work a number of jobs to simply survive. The overall intention of the club and this extraordinary program is twofold: 1. To show that Sport does provide a major link between social and educational standard and that we can provide a positive future for these refugees and under privileged children. 2. Provide a formal program platform to integrate the opportunities through the Sunshine District Primary Schools Sports Association - a membership of 16 local primary schools and four local sporting clubs being Sunshine Heights Cricket Club, Albion Football Club, Ardeer Basketball and Sunshine Heights Soccer The overall objective from this submission is to show what we are doing and what we are providing. To continue this great program we aim to raise $100,000 in 2012 to finance the next three years (seasons) of funding to cement this program in a formal format and present to other sporting establishments and assist them in introducing this program within their local school community. We require two submissions that we can provide potential sponsors/contributors with that emphasises the two points noted above. We wish to get across the huge benefit this opportunity provides the local communities, the individual and the families that participate. The submissions require options for sponsorship in terms of four levels – Platinum (major sponsor) down to Bronze (contributor). As mentioned above our aim is to raise $100,000 and this will be promoted to the Corporate business world as opposed to individuals.
