JQuery/ASP.NET Drag and Drop Soccer Team Selection Web Page
I am developing a web-based soccer manager game using ASP.NET (VB Codebehind). I now need a front-end interface to make it easy for manager to make their team selections by drag and drop. Once the manager has made the relevant changes to the team selection he/she will click a 'save' button and the page must save the team selection to the database. A subset of the site will be supplied that has the gridview and football pitch layout and the manual team selection process already coded. A connection is made to a sqldatasource to get the current team selection from a SQL Server Database. A codebehind function is used to populate the pitch with the players in the right positions when the page loads. A different sqldatasource is used to get all the players available to be selected. This is used to populate a gridview. The manager should then be able to drag and drop players from the gridview on to the pitch as shown in the attached spec. As an alternative to dragging from the team list and on to the pitch I'd also like the manager to be able to access a context list when hovering over a player in the gridview, which shows all available players. Clicking on a player in that list and the swap must be made on the gridview and on the pitch. The functionality should work on Internet Explorer (from version 6), Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera.
